The 12-Days program has been consciously designed in reference to brain mechanisms of learning, the shortening of student attention spans and the demands placed on student’s time in order to elicit maximize, positive effect.
The MinutePlan: Do A Little Bit Often. Most practices or training exercises are done in 1 minute or less. Implementation of Daily Focus Practice Plan is based on this Principle.
The 24-Hour Practice Trial Period is to observe and determine individual compatibility for each technique.
The 3-Day Consolidation of Learning Principle. Based in the critical brain process that occurs during the 3rd REM Phase of sleep over 3 successive nights.
The 30-Day Habit Development Principle. The daily and repeated strengthening of habit by daily reinforcement, growth and strengthening of neural circuitry.
Daily Scheduling & ‘Notes To Self’: Writing things out by hand. The Mirror-Learning Principle of the brain activating the hand, eye reabsorbing the information and reinterpreting it through visual cortex circuitry.
Daily Scheduling: Promotes commitment to self and completion.
‘Notes to Self’: Promotes self-reflection, self-observation and evaluation.
The various types of evaluation built-in to the program allow program administrators to determine if a participant has implemented the training. The degree of improvement, or not, is correlated to the various measures and can be statistically verified.
Neuroplasticity. The fundamental neurological fact that the brain plastic in nature. When conditions are correct, growth, adaptation and change can occur which is then reflected in thinking, feeling and action, the course through which a human being can achieve their own potential.
Thinking processes underly all behaviour whether conscious or sub-conscious. Becoming aware of this, through the experience of one’s own individual thinking, is essential to rectifying behaviours that undermine success.
‘To be free is to be capable of thinking one’s own thoughts – not the thoughts just of the body or of society but thoughts generated by one’s deepest, most original, most essential self, one’s individuality.’
12-Days to Better Focus and Results
An Online Short-Course for Students from Grade 10 through Higher Education and Beyond
The Objectives
1. To empower young people with a practical, useable focus skill set through experience and by experiment, wherein they determine the self-awareness and focus practices that will promote their own success, purpose and meaning as individuals.
2. Through this experience of a wide variety of techniques and practices over 12 days of online video-based mini-lessons, develop their own Daily Focus Practice that they will implement over a 30-day period and beyond.
